Many of you in our user community have asked for training and guidance on how to ensure your web content meets the accessibility guidelines required by the 2024 U.S. Department of Justice ruling on the Americans with Disabilities Act. In response, we are developing a series of self-paced online courses to explore accessibility and usability standards, strategies, and tools to help you get started.
Installment One
The first installment of the Creating Accessible Content series is Writing for the Web. In this course, you will learn strategies and tools to help you increase the accessibility and usability of your written web content. The course focuses on how to communicate in plain, direct language to all visitors, including those who use screen readers and consists of 30 minutes of narrated video with captions, transcript, and linked resources.
Any state employee with an NCID and LMS access may take this module in NC Learning Center. Those without LMS access, such as interns or contractors, can request access to the material in an alternate training environment. Request this Content Outside NC Learning Center.
