What is a Content Type?

Content Types are like templates for creating web pages. The most commonly used Content Types on the Digital Commons platform are Landing Page, Site Page, Event, Data Table, Press Release, and Document. 

When you create a page on the platform, you start by choosing which Type it will be. Then you simply fill out the template with pre-determined fields for different types of information, such as the page Title, the Body field, the Main Image field, etc. When you save the page, it will appear formatted like others of its type. 

The image below shows a section of the Site Page template. Required fields are outlined in orange. In the Body field, you can see the text formatting toolbar.
