NCDIT’s Digital Solutions team is a finalist in the NC TECH Awards for helping state agencies prioritize a digital-first experience for constituents. In April, NCDIT published the Digital Accessibility and Usability Standard, which provides guidance for agencies to develop and design websites and other online services to meet the public's expectations for high-quality, user-friendly experiences that are seamless, accessible and secure by design.
To advance knowledge of accessibility across state government, Digital Solutions shares best practices through channels that include the annual We Are NC Gov conference, a monthly newsletter, blog and presentations at agency conferences and meetings. It has launched the statewide N.C. Digital Accessibility Community of Practice (A11y CoP), open to web developers, communications staff and other professionals of all experiences with an interest in digital accessibility.
The team also provides web governance and accessibility checker tools through the Digital Commons platform, which supports 86 websites for state agencies, boards and commissions.
