Summary

Digital Commons Basic Training is a hands-on introduction to the platform and content editing. It covers how to interact with Content Types, Bands and Components. Basic Training covers the most common tasks you need to get started and is not a comprehensive training for every feature of the platform. This training, combined with curiosity and our library of Help Topics, will help you use our constantly-evolving platform. 

Prerequisites

To register for this class, you must:

  • be authorized by your agency Digital Commons Web Manager, and
  • have completed the Digital Commons Orientation online course.
    • State of North Carolina workers should complete Orientation in NC Learning Center.
    • If you do not have access to NC Learning Center, for instance if you are an intern, contractor, or local government employee, you will complete Orientation in Articulate Reach 360.

Topics

We will dive right into hands-on practice as participants take turns sharing their screens, walking through common tasks together. Each participant starts by editing their copy of the training agenda named "Last Name Site Page."

User Roles

Upon completion of this course, you will be prepared to work in any of the following User Roles:

  • Alert Creator
  • Event Creator
  • Editor
  • Publisher

Web Managers should complete Orientation, Basic Training, plus an additional Web Manager Training course.
